Background Information:
Bouza do Rei is situated in Ribadumía in the heart of the Salnús Valley, between the estuaries of Arousa and Pontevedra, the largest coastal plain in Galicia. Established in 1984, Bouza do Rei was one of the first wineries registered in DO Rías Baixas with only 49.4 acres. At present, Bodegas Bouza do Rei oversees the production of more than 247.1 acres of vineyards, averaging over twenty years of age. The vines are trellised on traditional granite posts, raised high above to prevent undue exposure to moisture, while maximizing their exposure to the sun and facilitating daily vineyard management and harvesting. The winery uses the most modern technology available in the elaboration of its prestigious wines: state-of-the-art pneumatic presses, cooling equipment, filtering and micro-filtration presses, and stainless-steel tanks for the elaboration and conservation of the wine.
